Student Opportunities


Student Recitals

These non-competitive performance opportunities are open to any student of MDML. Beginner, intermediate and advanced students are welcome. See the information below for more information on how to sign up.

February 3, 2024 @ 2pm (4-7 years only)

To participate, students must complete and submit the Student Recital Application Form found on our Downloads Page at least 7 prior to the recital date.

The recital fee of $5 per entry is due at the time of registration. Payments should be made by Zelle to the MDML Chase account using the email metdetml2020@netzero.net. Cash and checks will no longer be accepted at the recital. Only students who have paid with Zelle prior to the recital will be allowed to perform.

All instrumental soloists and vocalists are welcome to perform.

All recitals will be held at the Kawai Piano Gallery of Michigan, 2184 Telegraph Road, Bloomfield Hills, MI 48302



Adult Recital

Winners Recital
Sunday, April 7, 2024 at 2:00 p.m.

First, Second and Third Place Winners will receive trophies. All winners must perform in the Winners Recital. It is expected that all winners will attend the entire recital and dress in appropriate performance attire. Any winner unable to perform in the Winners Recital will forfeit the trophy but will retain the title won.

Entry Fee is $35.00. Teachers must remit one payment to MDML for the total number of students entered, either by Zelle to metdetml2020@netzero.net or by mail (check payable to MDML) to Maria Lonchyna-Lisowsky, 5520 Patterson Drive, Troy, MI 48085-3945.

Teachers must submit an Entry Form and Two Comment Sheets (available on the Downloads page) for each entry as instructed on the Entry Form.

ENTRY FORMS, COMMENT SHEETS, and FEES must be RECEIVED by the DEADLINE DATE of MARCH 1, 2024

October 15, 2023 - Pre-Registration

December 15, 2023 - Registration deadline. Registration fee is $40.00/student, non-refundable. Payment is due via Zelle: metdetml2020@netzero.net. Those who prefer to pay by check may do so by mailing it to Maria Lisowsky, 5520 Patterson Drive, Troy, MI 48085-3945. It must arrive by the due date. The postmark will not count.

February 17, 2024 - Performance Rating Sheet deadline

MTNA Competitions

State Level Performance Competitions - Michigan


November 10-12, 2023, Michigan State University, Lansing

Registration is completed exclusively through the MTNA website, www.mtna.org 

Registration deadline is 3 PM EST, September 13, 2023



Junior Performance Competitions (Age 11–14 )

Piano, String and Woodwind.

Fee: $ 80.00

Senior Performance Competitions (Age 15-18)

Brass, Piano, Piano Duet, String, Voice and Woodwind.

Fee: $ 110.00

Young Artist Performance Competition (Age 19-26)

Brass, Piano, String, Voice and Woodwind.

Fee: $ 120.00

Chamber Music Performance Competition

Must be 18-29 as of January 1, 2024. Applications available Nov. 1, 2023. Deadline is Dec. 6, 2023. Fee $145.00

Division Level Competition - Video Round

An additional division video fee of $25 will be required for those advancing to the division level. Deadline for video submission is Wednesday, December 6, 2023, 3:00 PM Eastern Time.

National Finals

In the event that the MTNA National Conference is cancelled, Finals will be a video round.

MTNA Student Composition Contest
