The Metropolitan Detroit Musicians League

The Metropolitan Detroit Musicians League is a professional organization of teachers of music, affiliated with the Music Teachers National Association. Since its founding in 1927, the professional membership of the League has included numerous distinguished artist-teachers that include: solo artists, chamber musicians, members of professional operas, orchestras and choruses, composers, lecturers, professors, and authors who seek to elevate their standards through promotion of teacher certification.

The seventy-plus members touch the lives of thousands of students in the tri-county area. Indeed, the thrust of the League is to serve the students with a rich and varied offering of events.

The League is proud of the accomplishments of the students, not only those who excel as competition winners or who pursue the profession of music at leading conservatories, but also those who pursue the aesthetic awareness, self-discipline, and the educational supplement that is gained through the study of music.

Monthly Meetings

The League offers its members continuing education in a series of programs presented by guest speakers. Programs are presented at the monthly meetings on Monday mornings at 10am, September through May at Kawai Piano Gallery of Michigan (2184 Telegraph Rd. Bloomfield Hills, MI)
